I got this new toy from a friend of mine. It's a 1996 Kawasaki KZ1000P Police Issue. The condition is great, runs fantastic and has about 76k miles on it. It even has the police badging on the side.

It's really run to ride, people just move out of your way! Muhaha

I say the same thing every time I look at your photo gallery!! ;)

I don't know what I am gonna do with it. It's super cool, but I have the strong desire to turn it into a Vetter Police Bike! Would that not be cool? A white custom painted Windjammer V, Black Vetter Bags and Trunk. Antenna, Police Radio, colored lights!!

:p:p:p

It needs to have something Vetter on it. Who is the maker of the fairing?

My 4 Vetter pieces started out white. It almost made my bike look like a police bike :)

I like that paint/striping on the tank. It's real close to the designs I was trying to work out for my tank to complement the custom striping I put on the Vetter pieces.

Here's some early paint/striping ideas I had. Click for larger

Looking back (again) the white on white looks cool and could be possible if I painted my 2nd set, 2nd tank, 2nd side covers (triangular pieces rear of engine) and found more lowers...http://s835.photobucket.com/user/Metal_Bob_82/media/Vetter Project/Paint Ideas/testinvert2.jpg.html

Great... Now I gotta have one!

It's funny, the other night we had a couple over for dinner. I showed my bud Rich the KZ1000P and he fell in love with the bike. It was all I could do to keep him grounded! He was on Craigslist and eBay looking for Interceptors throughout the evening. As the clock ticked toward midnight, it became a possible reality that him and I would playing CHIPS in the near future.

Interceptors are great rigs... I wouldn't mind owning one.

If I could find a wrecked one for parts, I'd be happy to find the foot boards, shifter and brake linkage and pedals, and the sub frames they mounted on, so I could adapt them to my '83 KZ1100 A-3.

I think it would be possible to use the sub frames for the foot boards, and set up the linkage for the brake pedal, and heel-toe shifter for "Red". She would be ultraluxe then...

Me personally, I'd put red strobes where the blue ones used to be and put one of my sirens on it, but I'm legally allowed to have those lol

Is that a Kawasaki specific fairing?

The fairings are Bates copies I believe. They were specifically made for the police issue and used for many years. I am not sure if they actually contracted with Bates to build the fairings. Im guessing no, they just copied it. Ive looked for a history but really have not found one.
