Back in March I traded a mossberg 590 for a 79 xs1100.
My first motorcycle.

It was a pos back then, needed lots of work and sort out a lot of issues, but with months of work it made it from Florida to Ohio on a 2600 mile road trip no problems.

I've always wanted a vetter for it. I loved the look of it, and I liked the frame mount stability over a shield mounted to bars.

I picked up a set of beat up OE saddlebags for it for 15$

I scored a NOS mount, wiring kit, and manual on eBay for 70$ then began searching for the fairing.

I found a mildly abused IV on Craigslist for 40$ and drove an hour and a half to get it

Here's how Excelsior stands today.

That looks good, I just love the XS1100, what a cool bike. I am building a 79 XS Eleven Special now, and doing the full Vetter setup on in. Windjammer SS, Bags, Trunk, and Cycle Sound. I am trying to go period correct. I just have this crazy part of me that loves to try to fit the right aftermarket parts with the year of the bike. So, mine being a 79 it really wouldn't work with the Windjammer II. I think the SS would have been the prime candidate. So, if you were to pick up your new XS in 79 and have a new Windjammer and bags installed, what would it have been? Either the SS or the IV, both crossed in 79.

I am looking for a Vetter Saddle Bag mounts for my Special. I accident bought some for a Standard. If you see any for sale or know anybody who needs some for a Standard let me know. Worst case I can cut and re-weld, but I would rather not.

Cool bike sir!
