My 1981 Honda CB900c has had it's Windjammer w/ trunk since new and I've kind of always wondered about lowers and saddlebags. In the meantime:

I acquired an 82 CB900c wearing a Vindicator II serial # 39-554356 w/ luggage rack/trunk. That's now an extra as I prefer the one bike running "naked."

Then because I thought a set of white lowers, spied at a swap meet might work, I bought em: "KAW 903" serial # 13-22739. They didn't fit.

Then I came into a light blue Windjammer SS serial # 24-274840 w/ brackets + the trunk and rack, serial # 36-222070.

Then there's the Dark Blue Windjammer V serial # 63-153795 replete w/ radio, speakers, antenna and speakers.

Last, a set of White Vetter Saddlebags w/ racks, Sissy Bar w/ small luggage rack... didn't see a serial number.

All of the windshields are great... which might be why I've hung on to them but, mine remains in great shape so... never tapped em for that.
Keys are present for the Vindicator II but not for any of the others. Generally they're all in good condition, my intent to repaint the saddle bags and the like so color wasn't to critical to me.

So, at 74, the reality of my needing saddlebags or any of this is looming large and my question to the jury: what's the ballpark value on each of these items? I remember posting the Vindicator II on ebay some 10 years ago and seems all the interest came from Montana or Wyoming! Of course shipping killed any interest... I think the UPS store wanted something like $120 to ship it out there... I'm in Maryland and happy to deliver within an hour or two but... Wyoming? :)

I do have pictures but I'm experiencing a tech glitch so I'll have to post later... but let's get this started?

Thanks!

Peter

Sadly, Windjammers have fallen out of fashion. It can be hard to give them away. One of the biggest problems is that they are expensive to ship. The last one I got I drove three hours to pick it up before someone put it in a dumpster. It is still sitting unused under my back deck.

It is really sad, because they are still incredibly practical. Two of my bikes have Windjammers, and three of them have Vetter saddlebag brackets so I can move my bags easily between bikes.

Is there no dealer/bike shop/tuner that has become a great source of Vetter parts & assistance over there? I can absolutely understand KGB's comments about freight, I'd hate to imagine cost to ship one out of the US!!

You can actually still get some original parts directly from Craig. Technically, he has shut down his store, but if you email him directly you can likely still get some edging, windshield foam, some badging, etc. He also still has lots of instructions and tips on this website. As for the big stuff, you just have to scour sites like eBay and hope you find something close to home.

Thanks for the sanity check! Sometimes you're sitting on a gold mine, sometimes you're not... or on that one part someone else desperately needs and you're happy to give away. Ok, well, I guess I'll try FB Marketplace and then ebay... and then.... ? :) Thanks again!

Raider, with the number of fairings I have, I'm fast becoming a parts option! Hahahaha... 10 years ago, freight to Wyoming was around $120.... now, who knows? Which is why, whenever I post stuff, I generally say "end of my driveway" or "an hours drive" so when I make the extra effort investigating the costs of shipping for someone (15 mile drive, load the kit in the truck, return, unload etc.) and they freak out and call me a money grabber.... eh, not doing that anymore. Thank you for your thoughts.

As other members have stated the cost of shipping Vetter goodies is just so expensive. More expensive than the value unfortunately.

It's kinda funny, in 2013 when this forum started, there was actually a pretty big resurgence of Vetter stuff going on. Lots of younger riders were putting fairings on their bikes. Craig was of course more active in the community before his accident, and I think this helped too. Even the eBay market at that time was pretty hot for anything Vetter.

2026 the community really shrank. I think there are still fans, but not as many, or not as many active.
