I was only looking for a GS Suzuki bracket, then this came up and the whole thing - fairing, screen and bracket would only have cost a couple of quid more than I was willing to pay for a bracket anyway.
So, now I'm the owner of a purpley-blue GS1000 Vetter WJ IV.

I'll use it eventually, I'm sure. Even just to have as a spare is very handy indeed.

That looks very nice.
And would have been a close match for my first bike with windjammer back in the day...

Yeah; ironically, if I'd kept my 79 GS the original colour, it would have sat quite well on it. The 80 GS is going to be black, I think. Not quite sure, yet.

Nice find. I suffer from this ailment also. On the forum it's known as VOGS. A very very expensive disease with no known cure. :crash

It arrived an hour ago, and unpacking revealed an item which had been well cared-for its entire history. Damn - now I'm totally conflicted. I'm tempted to use this one, but by fitting it to the winter tug, it will inevitably start to suffer the bruises and scrapes that bike is subject to, simply as a matter of its duties and mere existence.
I'll stick to fitting the scruffy red one and I don't really care about that - it's well scuffed-up anyway, even though it cleaned up well enough, it will never be a looker.
Bonus - this one came with a wiring harness, which I'll use right away. I'm still waiting for Canada Post to send one I bought a month ago.
Turns out the screen part of this deal is a cut-down one, but not too low, so might be useful enough.

Serial # is 37-456577

That's my general theory: use the road-weary one as long as possible, and save the pristine one for that day when . . .

Yep; closer examination revealed a couple of small cracks in the front inner corners, so I'll plastic weld them and re-inforce that area. I've an idea some of them are prone to that. I don't think it's collision damage, as nothing else is seemingly bent or twisted or even marked, and if the fairing had sustained enough of a belt to crack those bits, I'm fairly sure the rest of it would show signs.

Please expand on that, presuming you mean an alternative to the Hotcha kit.
A 25W or heftier soldering iron and a strip of ABS as feed/filler. Lots of scrap ABS to use and cut into strips, and the game's on. Not doing it yet, but sometime over the winter.
This XS post gives a fairly good overview.

The other one's on and working, just final tidying up and it will be good to go shortly.
