I thought of that but would have to find a replacement socket or rewire the existing one as the existing dual contacts would not work correctly for a single filament dual contact bulb as the ground would need to be on one of the pins insted of the casing with the dual filament type I believe.
A dual-filament bulb's retention pips are at different heights to assure correct orientation, while a single-filament bulbs pips are at the same height. Both use the bulb base as common. Simple running-light wire disconnection is the simple fix.

The single-filament bulbs with two contacts are used where neither conductor can be grounded, such as dome-light use where the ground wire is switched, or in appliances and equipment as indicator lights.
