I've had my 80 XS1100 SG since May. It came with the vetter fairing. A friend of mine came across a set of luggage for me yesterday. I love the look of the bike since getting the entire touring setup!

I just have to repaint the brackets since they were pretty dingy . I did notice the right saddle bag is pretty loose when attached to the mounts. Almost like there's too much play near the lock end. Anyone have ideas of how to fix it?

Here's my baby:

Welcome to the forum! The bags are meant to float so some "looseness" is normal, but excessive isn't good either as it could lead to the bag falling off. There is a spring clip that holds the bag onto the bracket:

If that spring is bent too much, that would cause the excessive play. If it is broken, that causes the bag to be locked on the bracket until you determine to best way to remove it (usually involves a lot of tools). You may want to see if your springs are bent out of shape and replace if necessary.

I also noticed on a set of mine that it lost one of the rubber bumpers giving it a lot of play. I had another set of bumpers off of some other bags I had. Not sure if Craig sells them or not.

We're definitely in the minority, but at least we'll be able to out run them!

Oh and apparently I'm missing two of the rubber bumpers oh the saddlebag brackets. That's what is causing the looseness. Any idea where to get replacements? Didn't see any on the vetter website. May just go to the hardware store and see what I can put together as a substitute.

Welcome to the forum! Nice to see another XS rider!

Take that GLers

:)
