Just curious...

Any other hams here in V.O.G.?

I'm new to V.O.G., and my bike is an '83 Kawasaki KZ1100 A-3, fully Vetterized from the dealership it came from, and I'm its third owner. When I got "Voodoo Red", an extra set of Vetter bags and their brackets came with her. I've been going through doing maintenance, and thinking about doing something with that extra set
of bags...

I'm an Amateur Radio operator, callsign KE5LIB, and most of the time when I ride Red I carry a small hand held portable 2 m/70cm, along with my cell phone. I also have a nice mobile rig with the detachable control panel, and remote mounting kit. I thought when I repainted Red I'd match the lids on both sets, and install some weatherproof connectors to make mounting/dismounting easier, and install the radio gear and auxiliary
batteries. That way I have the best of both worlds.

If you are a ham, or have thought about going mobile with your Vetter rig, let me know, I'd like to compare notes.

I am not a ham operator.I have four scanners for police,fire,trains and just any thing in general. I have a receiver for short wave which I was into when I was younger,enjoyed programming from all over the world.Haven't used it since my divorce about 14 years ago but was actually thinking about getting it out of storage and throwing a wire ant out the window and see what I can pick up.I used to keep track of times etc and wanting to get qsl cards but then I started being on the road a lot so I got out of the hobby.
But I have a scanner in my jacket when I am following the tracks with an ear plug to hear what is going on.
Thought about it but life got in the way like soo many other things.

I used to have a really nice Radio Shack scanner, I remember doing mods to it to open up other bands. I had a Radio Shack Ham radio too, can't remember the model. It was a held unit, I remember that much.

I have one scanner that did not skip any thing from England but now days soo much is going digital it takes some of the fun out of listening.I have a small analog one I use while riding the train,about the size of a cigarette pack from Wally World for 79 bucks,it's called the NASCAR radio.Actually works pretty well.

I remember being able to listen to cordless phones. Working at Radio Shack in the mall we would tune into the neighbors phones. Heard some crazy stuff during the cordless phone era in the late 80's, early 90's.

That and drive thru windows at the local fast food joints.All fun stuff.Snow plows,and the list goes on and on.I still keep a scanner in the car at all times.I remember my cb days.kgp6743,then it became free and got my money back.
Dang,I just might start getting the scanners out and start reprogramming to get up to date.All the freq's are on line.

Can you monitor police these days with mods to scanners? or are they all encrypted.

It is digital around here which I don't like but I just happen to have a digital scanner,imagine that.An older one but the new ones do a better job.Still a fun hobby or if the police are surrounding your house But as always you are still not allowed to tell any one of what you have heard.As if any one followed that regulation.
