I wonder if they would be willing to let someone take over the operation other than just slowly shutting it down as the current stock of parts sellout. I'm sure someone here would be willing to continue serving the needs of the Vetter community. I'm too old now to do it myself. If Mrs Vetter could at least post a list of the suppliers they source parts from for the shop that too would be a lot of help, If they are not willing to shift the operation over to someone else. I would think whoever is willing to take on the operation would also like to purchase the remaining stock of parts at one go and then the Vetter's would be completely free of it. It could take years to clear out the current stock of parts just selling it all peace-meal. The new operations manager would have an immediate parts inventory to help start him or her off without needing to order and stock parts from scratch. If I were 20 years younger I would jump at the chance. I would even go so far as design new parts such as a hard left side lockable pocket door with mounting hardware for phones or other electronics. I actually custom made one for myself and it's so much better than the original style snap on Naugahyde cover. I would also make jigs for fabricating mounting brackets for the few modern motorcycles a Windjammer can be mounted on.
On another note I wonder if a new generation of Windjammer fairings could be designed and built to fit modern Bikes and if they would sell. Someone could take an original Windjammer, cut the seams apart, and then insert patch panels to make it wider so it would fit modern motorcycles with their wider spaced forks and larger/wider fuel tanks. Then a mold could be made from it so modernized Windjammer fairings could be made. Due to the wider width a new headlight bucket could be fitted that utilizes two 5 3/4 H4 headlights or perhaps even two square or round H4 7" headlights. New LED headlights have circular white or amber DRL lights so with two LED headlights the amber lights can be used as built in turn signals. They are already DOT approved for that use. I love my Windjammer fairing and I would be willing to fork out serious cash for a modern Windjammer that would fit a modern Motorcycle. I know several people that ride Adventure Bikes and every one of them hates the fairings they come with. They are a fashion statment more than function. I'm sure every one of those people would love to have a fairing that actually does what a Windjammer did back in the 70's on their adventure bike.
