Here’s trim installed with new grip. I took it off to dress the threads. For the last 4 years I was happy to have working trim even if it took a slip wrench to turn it. Haven’t been out yet but I can now turn it by hand.
Only really change it these days between my self solo and not-wife...
I’ve been looking for replacement trim grip boot. Seems all OEM are gone and maybe someone was 3D printing. Here’s my solution.
Fernco XL 1056-1502 Flexible Pipe Coupling 1-1/2” CI/Plastic/Steel to 1-1/2” CI/Plastic/Steel
Perfect length for center trim grip. Will now be searching for universal...
Let me put this out here first. I’m certainly not a TP expert.
Mfg dates have been listed from very late 70’s to very early 80’s. With only around 900 units built, could safely average out 200-250 per year. With that data can at least put mfg date close to a year.
My current rig is #493...
As stout as the TP was built this connection does seem to be weakest mount. During installation had to slightly bend these to get right alignment. Was careful to only bend the strap and not stress the weld. Mounted on ‘83 Interstate no issues after 5,000 miles.
Evening, TP rigs
Has anyone categorized the current and known Vetter cars? With under 1,000 TPs built how hard could this be. He said looking down a rabbit hole.
I thought I would first search web for pics and paste into spreadsheet with notes on where pic is from and other info I can...
You probably figured out by now. Coffin lid straps attach under the body around the smaller upper frame tube.
I believe the brake was standard but I took mine off on current rig. After rebuilding brake system when I acquired TP 4 years ago (poured dust out of master) I found applying brake...
Morning,
Can you show us some pictures? What set of hardware was used for mounting? Serial number? Why separate? I paid $1750 for mine with a naked ‘82 Wing. Sold the non running bike for $500. That was 4 years ago. Look at past listings on eBay for other TP hacks and prices. More around...
Welcome from SE Pennsylvania.
Not entirely up to date on serial numbers. Your #930 and Mike324’s #920 are close to the last TPs built. Let’s see pics.
When I got this car, I actually poured dust out of calipers. Took a year to get around finding replacement parts, but took system off after...
Morning,
Lost my chance at leading link last fall. Still searching for alternatives. Seems that fork extensions will be easiest and cheapest route. Have been told by supplier that Harley 39mm extensions although same tube diameter as GL they are made for HD.
Can someone confirm they are...
Howdy, from PA with VTP #498
Does anyone have a leading link on or off a bike for sale? I have '83 GL1100.
Double post. Also in Terraplane forum.
Regards, Rick J.
I thought metering would be a problem. I envisioned either by restriction valve or pot size change.
After riding my rig without a brake for almost two years, quick stop muscle memory still has me on just the rear pedal and hand lever. Right now I'm all over the road in three brake stops...
Not too many talkers here. But just realized it had been couple of years when I was thinking about linking front brake to car. How did your brake mod turn out?
Three runs to hardware store and success. Thanks Amazon for master cylinder overnight delivery. Repurposed an unknown bracket. Could have been from a heal/toe shifter mount. Moved all components to outside of brackets under car frame. I cleaned up and reused the original TP Airheart disc...
