Make sure to remove the Turn Signal Pods and check those Amber lenses where they are glued to the reflectors. Mine were just barely hanging on and would have been lost the first time I took my bike out after mounting it on my bike. They popped off the reflectors really easy without even trying...
He's missing the brace that supports the brackets at the lower rear. Once that's in place those bags will not be tilting down. I had to fabricate one to fit my brackets as well.
I have repaired it and even took it out for a test ride with the new free wheel on the left side pedals. I am happy with the 30 tooth chain ring that replaced the stock 37 tooth chain ring as well. Here's a picture of the bottom bracket assembly with the new free wheel and 30 tooth chain ring...
I've never figured out how wires tangle themselves up without help. Put a few wires in a closed box and when you return later they will be tangled and tied up in the most horrible knots.
I did change the gearing while I had it apart for repairs. It came with a 37 tooth sprocket attached to the pedal shaft flange, which is called a chain ring in bicycle technical terms. I had a 30 tooth sprocket I "Liberated" from a kids bike I found in a pile of trash waiting for pickup by the...
I did get an odd feeling "Driving" it from the right side but I never felt like I needed to "Drive" on the left side of the road.
Those original freewheels have "Made in England" imprinted on them. I'm sure they were supplied by that company already welded to the tubing with that bushing...
Well, I broke it yesterday. There are 18 tooth single speed freewheels connected to the pedals. This allows independent peddling by both people. The most used one on the left side broke. Lucky for me I was able to get it home by sitting and peddling from the right side and steer it with my left...
I do my own tires because I don't trust anyone else. I have a real bead breaker and proper tire irons. I've never had any difficulty changing motorcycle tires, with or without tubes.
I rode my last rear tire past it's safe tread wear limit by about 500 miles. I was amazed at how much better it was with a new tire of the same make and model. I'll never do that again.
Sweet!
I was at the Honda Dealership this morning killing some time and spotted a 2017 Honda CB1100 on the showroom floor. After a few measurements I concluded it would be easy to put a Windjammer fairing, bags, and a trunk on it like a did on my modern 2006 Honda VLX 600.
I was sorely tempted...
I "Drove" it to McDonald's this morning for breakfast. This involved riding it about a 1/2 mile on a road shared with motor vehicles. It's considered a Bicycle so that's perfectly legal. On the way back home a Policeman pulled me over. He wanted to check and make sure it was indeed a Bicycle and...
These PPV's which stands for People Powered Vehicle are extremely rare. This one was made in 1973. I simply had to have it when I found it. After about 6 hours of work repairing it from it's decades of storage I actually took it out for an enjoyable 5 mile ride on the Local Bike Trail. Today it...
Welcome to the Forum! The only Harley Davidson a Windjammer Fairing will fit is the Sportster. Typically people will only mount Vetter Saddlebags and Trunk on a Bike with a Windjammer or Liberator Fairing as well. I guess people don't like that 70's "Star Wars" era styling preferring Saddlebags...
I'm the guy that put a Windjammer on my Honda VLX 600. A Windjammer will just barely fit. The only real problem you may run into is the fairing hitting the Air Filter housing on the right side. My Windjammer was a Kawasaki Fairing so it was already cut to fit on the Kawasaki KZ series of...
