I bought a Quicksilver fairing from a V45S to be fitted on my 1985 Honda V65 Sabre and a Windjammer for my 1976 Honda GL 1000. As the Quicksilver arrived almost crashed due to a careless transporter, I'll have to drive 500 miles to get the windjammer in good condition...

Hi Larry, thanks for your welcome!
Our miles are about the same as yours (1609 mètres) and, as my V65S and my GL1000 are US imports, they just show miles, not kilometers! lol .
And, although living in south west of France now, I'm of half US origin and I lived and worked in Texas not so long ago!

There are lots of ex-US big old tourers coming into Europe kitted out with Vetters and other fairings. At the moment there's no shortage of people stripping them off and getting the bikes back to their naked state, as they'll not be used for touring in their retirement years (the bikes and the owners). At the right time of the year, the fairings can be picked up for €50 or less, as very few people appreciate them and even if they do, they think they're a) old-fashioned or b) hard to fit.
We here know different :)
 
A black 1978 Honda GL1 Mk3 joined the bunch of bikes in my garage. It's a one owner bike with 51600 km on the clock (33 000 miles) in very good condition that has been garaged since Dec 1986 and she's fitted with a complete windjammer fairing.

There will be a lot of work before I shall put her on the road but I'm confident, I'll do it!

Make sure to remove the Turn Signal Pods and check those Amber lenses where they are glued to the reflectors. Mine were just barely hanging on and would have been lost the first time I took my bike out after mounting it on my bike. They popped off the reflectors really easy without even trying as the glue was so old. I used 3M decal glue to reattach them to the reflectors.

Thank very much you for your advice, Scott ! The fairing was on this bike from day one then I guess that the Turn Signal Pods have been removed but I'll check this. I'll reglue the lenses as you described because if I loose one, it will be very difficult to get another!
