How to install Vetter Headlamp Cover?

I have a 77 Honda GL1000 Goldwing with a Windjammer SS fairing. I recently got a Vetter headlamp cover, but when I put it on the headlamp bucket it doesn't seem to be very secure (feels like it might fall off!!). Does the original headlamp bezel have to be in place for the cover to stay on? I currently have only the bucket (no rim, sealed beam or retaining rings) on my 77 gl1000. The inside edge of the rubber vetter cover has a ridge which looks like it's supposed to go into a crevice (like you might see as the joint between the bucket and the headlamp bezel. So... any experience on this thing out there? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing, as I have one too. I don't know if these were specific to the bike and meant to go over or inside. I am kinda guessing that you wouldn't have the headlight on, if you did you probably wouldn't need the cover. I am thinking that once you pull the light off, then you place the cover over or inside to keep water and elements out of the bucket. Mine fit will backwards on the inside of the bucket. Is this correct?? I'm not sure. You would think it would stretch tightly over the bucket....

On my Honda 450 I used push-in nylon fasteners to hold cover on. I punched holes on the side of the rubber, than attached the fasteners to headlight bucket using the area where the screw hole were on the bucket used to attach the headlight ring. That way it can be removed but won't fall off.

Thanks for the idea! I will do something like that unless I get some other definitive instructions. I was wondering if Craig Vetter would mind answering the question though... I will post it in the "ask Craig" section.

I forgot to mention that the headlight does need to be removed for clearance between the bucket and windjammer. With the instructions that came with my mount, it said you needed to remove the headlight bucket. Which I did, But I found out later that there was enough clearance to put the bucket back on. Then I could use the rubber cover over the bucket to protect the wiring.
