I know I said I wouldn't do it, but...

What do you do when you have a mount for a GL1000 and an extra WJIV laying around? To make matters worse, the WJ is black with gold pinstripes.:eek:

Now I was thinking of seeing what a 1200 would look like with a Vetter on it.
I'm thinking you will have a hard time getting a GL1000 Windjammer bracket to fit on a GL1200. I suspect you will be designing the 'new' bracket, basically from scratch. I've never seen the 1200 bracket, but the one I saw on eBay is "WAY" different.

That and a GL1000 may be cheaper than that bracket (he's proud of it!)

I didn't think there ever was a mount made for the 1200 (at least by Craig and company) unless it was something that was home-made. The 1200 came along after Bell had the "Vetter" name.

You are right though, he does like that mount A LOT!!!

I had always assumed (oops!) that 1100 and 1000 mounts were the same since they are basically the same frame, however the 1000 mount does have that longer loop on it. I never saw that style of mount before either.

Actually, not only are the 1100 and 1000 different, but there are 2 different ones for the 1000. I'll start new threads describing them and the 1000 and 1100 saddlebag mounts. I have no experience on any mounts other than the Goldwings, so hopefully someone will pick up that slack.

Ohh ok, I have been looking for a 78/79 NOS GL1000 mount for the GL1000 I don't have yet. I want to do that blue full dress Vetter clone. 100% mint.

Resistance is futile!
Having recently re-read the John Carter of Mars books, I found it interesting that Edgar Rice Burroughs used that phrase over 70 years ago.
"Llana of Gathol" is the 10th of 11 John Carter of Mars books that Edgar Rice Burroughs left to the world. This book is comprised of four linked short tales that first appeared in "Amazing Stories Magazine" from March to October 1941.

Carter is told several times during the course of this novel, by one or another of his many enemies, that "Resistance is futile." I can't help wondering whether the creators of Star Trek's Borg menace were Burroughs fans!

Got it off Craigslist for cheap. Took it home and took it apart to rebuild. Replaced the old 75 turn signals with period correct ones I had. Now I just need a Liberator and the collection is complete.
