The last week I've been on and off trying to get the optimal placement of my Windstar fairing on my suzi GS850G....which leads me to my question;
Given that the brackets are slightly angled in towards the front of the bike, how are we supposed to slide the fairing as far back as we can and still be aligned with the holes or even the mounting area? If the brackets were ran straight forward I could easily see doing this - but with that angle there, the fairing and bracket mounting holes get out of alignment after less than an inch of rearward placement...and I could go farther back too - tank/bars/gauges clearance wise. Are folks redrilling holes...tweeking bracket width....simply leaving it?
Inquiring minds wish to know.

Interesting, I have mounted only one Windstar and the only thing I personally had to do was tweak the fairing a tad. I am thinking that maybe the mount may be incorrect, or bent perhaps. If the bracket isn't mounted on the bike do the holes line up?

It's not bent...per say...she sits in a slight chevron pattern - front slightly inward, which matches the fairings slight mounting chevron area. Web mounting instructions indicate to "move the fairing back as far as is allowed via clearance"..but to move one chevron past the matching chevron pattern is to take them both out of alignment. Oh, and yes, the holes do line up, but the fairing sits pretty far out - imho. The only viable way to move the fairing in, and keep the bracket/fairing holes in alignment, would be to somehow lessen the forward distance from the frame, via the bracket, and with no adjust ability in that aspect, I don't see how anyone can easily move the fairing back at all.
To move/tweek the fairing down would simply require the bracket to be slide farther down the frame, sans any alignment or obstructions along the way.....there is some fudgeability there, but not alot.
