Here is my 1978 GL1000 restoration. I took off the tail trunk and cut the windshield for a sleeker look. I want to figure out some way to add a quick disconnect mounting system for the tail trunk for when I want to add it back for a long distance trip; I’ve already added a weatherproof quick disconnect plug for the lighting. Any suggestions appreciated.

Your GL1000 is beautiful, nice job.
I'd think for a quick on, quick off trunk mount the entire subframe shound be removeable. Fabrication will surely be involved but take a minute to Google the term 'ball lock pin'.
Imagine a hitch pin with a push button release, use them in place of hood pins on the hot rods too.
