I've noticed too it doesn't seem to affect engine temp either but it does keep the legs toasty.

I went to Fleet Farm and bought one of those door springy things and cut it in half and made a loop in the end I cut. $1.38 and I have an extra one. I'll post a photo tomorrow when it's light out. Worked perfect!

So as I'm an old duffer :) I'm envisioning a spring like on an old wooden screen door on a house. The one about waist level that a kid (me) would irritate my parents with.
