    Lowers....

Those rubber well nuts can often be found at your local hardware store. Be careful with them. People tend to significantly over-tighten them. Doing so can easily pull out the brass inserts in them. You want to tighten them just until they are firm and the lowers aren't sloppy.

    Lowers....

Nice job. I've never worked with a WJ5, but I have found that it is really easy to cut the lowers to fit around almost any bike.

    Complete set - Vetter gear

Sadly, Vetter gear is not in demand today, so they don't command much money. Also, they are brutally expensive to ship. I would advertise them for sale locally. You don't often see a matched set like that in such good condition, especially in the rare Kawasaki-branded arrangement. Exactly...

    Lower Fairings for 1980 XS850SG

The front "half" of the lowers, where they connect to the fairing, are all pretty much the same. The back half, the part the covers the engine, started as a universal blank and was then cut to wrap around different features of the engine. If I remember right, the Type 2 was likely the least...

    Vetter Tank Bag 36L

Yes. I make all kinds of stuff from webbing and those buckles work really well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074MPHS4N

    Vetter Tank Bag 36L

I have a couple of those tank bags in various sizes. They used these proprietary stud and snap type fasteners. I find them rather clumsy. I reworked mine with some off-the-shelf 1" webbing snap buckles, like you see on back packs. This also makes them really easy to move between my several...

A call for Vetter serial numbers

Can we see some full pictures of the fairing? Also, do you know what bike it was on?

    New old guy...

I have played with Cycle Sound (in fact I have two sitting on my shelves) but not in quite a while. Bluetooth helmet sound systems have gotten so good, I don't see any reason for it any more. All you really do is blast the music at the cars around you. I use a Cardo Packtalk.

    New old guy...

Gorgeous bike, and I like the Ironman colors. I have restored a few Windjammers, so if you have any questions let me know. Craig has pretty much retired since his accident, and has mostly shut down his store. However, last I checked (2023?), his wife Carol was still monitoring their email and...

Windjammer SS Fairing, Sidebags, and Trunk Pulled off a 1979 Suzuki GS850

Those look like they are in good shape. Unfortunately, I am on the wrong coast.

1978 Honda Gold Wing GL1000 Restoration

Those side panels pop up on eBay every now and again. Not terrible to find. I've cut down a few of those windshields. It is not hard, but you have to be careful. First, I cover both sides of the cut area with blue masking tape. I eyeball the height I want. I want it high enough to protect...

Wow! That is a treasure. How did you get that?

    Vetter Forum Update

Sadly, Vetter gear has fallen out of style. On some forum somewhere, someone posted "Will Windjammers every be cool again?" Today they just end up in dumpsters. That is where I have scavenged a few. I don't think that they ever stopped being cool. Thanks for keeping the site going. I find...

    Lower Fairings for 1980 XS850SG

The challenge with saddle bag brackets is that they were never marked for what bike they fit. That was only a label on the outside of the box. Once they were out of the box, you can't tell. The best thing to do is to search eBay for as set the came off of the bike you have, or one that uses...

I get that, and I am a technology wonk.

    3d Scanning in NJ/PA/MD/NY??

That seems a little overkill, and will likely be expensive. Craig has some information on his site about building customer brackets. Also, I have seen people do some great things modifying brackets from older bikes to fit newer bikes. No matter what solution you find, please share the...

    Windjammer IV models?

Yes, if you have the right bracket the fairing will fit. All the Windjammers, from the early one that were simple fairings, to the late ones with the integral turn signals, were all the same basic layout and shape...

    Windjammer IV models?

Maybe this one? I don't know Yamaha, but if the downtubes are the same, I would think it is a good possibility. https://www.ebay.com/itm/226575685876

    Windjammer IV models?

What Larry said... Sadly, Vetter did not mark the mounting brackets with the bike they were designed to fit. That was only marked on the box they were originally packed in. Hopefully, you can find one that came off a bike that is the same, or similar enough. If you have some metal working...
