Stator Life actually depends on how well the stator coils are cooled by the engine oil and how much carbon is in dilution in that oil. Most people don't know that engine oil is sprayed on the stator coils from a tiny slot cut in the crankshaft. Those coils get really hot so they must have proper...
It was a beautiful 70 degrees here in Alabama today. I'm not Jewish but I always have Christmas Dinner at a Chinese Restaurant. That became a "thing" while I was in the US Navy. Everything else is closed and eating on an Army Mess or Navy Base Mess or a Ships Mess on Christmas is depressing as...
I don't have and do not want a Cell Phone. While serving in the Army they stuck a Two Way Business Band type of Radio on me which was much like a Cell Phone is today. I hated that thing. Sometimes I needed to go into buildings that were also bomb shelters constructed to survive a nuclear event...
It's a simple way to control two, unmatched braking systems. Doing it that way also provides limited steering brake capabilities. Take for instance you are going into a left hand turn where the weight of the sidecar adds some over steering because you've let off the throttle going into the turn...
I ride year round down here in Alabama. Some think I'm crazy to ride when it's below freezing. I simply dress for it. I've been riding year round since I was 12. I even rode all winter while going to Navy schools at North Chicago Naval Training Center. Back then I had bought a Honda XL 250...
Got my patch today, I'm Stoked! Now I've got to figure out if I want it upper left or upper right on my old skool denim vest. It's a really nice patch. I'd love a few vinyl stickers just like it.
My modern Honda Cruiser has foot forward controls so none of those vintage lowers will work with my Windjammer setup. I ride year round so lowers are a must. I designed and made my own. I fabricated a crash bar which I wanted anyway and made lowers from (free) coroplast road signs for it. Those...
That's going to restrict air flow. That heat sink needs open space so heat can be dissipated. The light pocket in a Windjammer fairing is just barely large enough for the headlight socket Craig designed the fairing around. I don't think he ever thought his Windjammer fairing would still have an...
Switching to an LED headlight is going to be a problem with any Windjammer fairing. Truly bright LED's need a large heat sink. Some even need a fan to help carry away the excessive heat they produce. This requires a heat sink attached to the rear of the LED mount that extends inside the...
I'm happy the the 20 X 2 watt amplifier that I got with the speakers as a package. It's loud enough and it only draws about 2 amps at full volume. The Stator output on my bike is 340 watts so I've got to be careful about how much I load the electrical system.
Is the black/chrome door a right side door? That's the one I would like to replace. If your selling all at one price I could take them all depending on how much you want for them and what shipping would cost.
I'm going to paint the one I use to replace my right bag door so the stuck cardboard...
Second on the Pictures! We do love pictures here. Welcome to the VOG and good luck with that GL1000 and it's Vetter Touring Gear.
I wish I could run up on a GL1000 at a reasonable price down here in Alabama. It's easy to ride year round down here so most all the GL1000's you find here are worn...
That foam was there to protect the radio and enclosure from vibration. It had nothing to do with an attempt to improve audio reproduction. When I got my enclosure that foam was rotten due to age so I removed it. I didn’t replace it because I was not going to install an automotive type radio in...
Mounting them in the cycle sound enclosure made them louder. The little housings they were originally mounted in I think were too small preventing the speaker cones from moving in and out fully. Those housing were designed to fit on the mirror mounts so the design was more for making them fit on...
