Restoring a WJ 5

Hello guys,

as I plan to replace the WJ4 on my Suzuki by a WJ5 I have recently started to restore my stock WJ5.

Parts had been ordered already last year at Carol.

There are some small cracks on the inner parts, the chrome trim needs to be replaced and there is some new paint necessary - I prefer a friendly, bright and life-affirming BLACK :)

Started to dismantle the fairing and there is a problem with the rubber bushings of the headlight. On one side I couldn‘t remove the bolt for the headlight housing and had to cut it. Now I have the rubber bearing in the fairing on one side, on the other Side the remains of the bearing are at the bolt.

Are there any spares available or do you have an idea how to fix this?

Regards
Dieter

Without a diagram showing how it was originally assembled, I'm having trouble visualizing what is missing. :banghead

I'll have to look for some manuals or sketches and reply with any findings later.

Thanks Alan,

now I know what the "headlight bunkees" should look like and can try to find something similar.

Those sure do look like 'well nuts' to me.
Well nuts are the rubber bits with threads that were used to mount fairing lowers. These are available in many sizes on Ebay among others.

I especially think they look like well nuts since I can read the word WELLNUT on the parts in the photo taken directly from the link I above.

Its times like this I wish Craig were listening in.
