It was a beautiful 70 degrees here in Alabama today. I'm not Jewish but I always have Christmas Dinner at a Chinese Restaurant. That became a "thing" while I was in the US Navy. Everything else is closed and eating on an Army Mess or Navy Base Mess or a Ships Mess on Christmas is depressing as hell. My entire Family enjoys it as well as it eliminates all that work involved with a traditional Christmas Dinner. The first Christmas I had with my future wife involved eating at a Chinese Restaurant. She had no idea that not only would it be open on Christmas but that it would be exceptionally packed with people having a rocking (Jewish) good time. She's a Sioux (Native American) and instantly loved it. My wife had to be away this year so it was just me today. It was very nice to ride my Bike there and back bare handed, in a half helmet, Jeans, T-shirt, and a vest. As it turned out I wasn’t the only Biker there. A young Chinese lady seating people as they came in thought I was with some other Bikers and lead me to their table. I had no idea who they were and none of them had ever seen me before, but it was cool. They asked me to join them after that young Lady suddenly figured out ( and got very frightened) that I was not a member or part of that group of Bikers. I sat down and informed that Young Chinese Lady that everything was going to be just fine as everyone at the table was having a good laugh at her distress. As it turned out we were all Veterans so it ended up being an exceptionally good time while enjoying a Chinese Christmas Dinner with other Vet's.
I think this was the first spring Christmas we had. It was in the mid 70's with thunderstorms that rolled through. It was a fairly quite day for work, so I can't complain too much.
Merry Christmas from Indiana. While not white, it was cold and as we all settled into our beds, thoughts of sunny, open roads flowed through our heads. Here is hoping for a quick winter for those that experience snow and dry roads for those who don't.
