Canopy latch

Does anyone have suggestions for a replacement canopy latch for my 1977 Terraplane?
The latch doesn't stay closed. At 45 years old, it's a little tired.

I just got a Terraplane and found the rubber canopy latch with metal bracket loose behind the seat.
When you pop-rivet the bracket to the body, how do you get a reinforcement washer behind it?
Also, I need to install the two canopy restraining straps. I see where I can attach them to canopy bolts, but how do they attach to the body?
Sorry, new to the forum -- so many questions!

The OEM straps had a loop in one end that was put over the support rail inside the car.

Thanks for the information I'll give it a try.
Now I'm trying to find a replacement windlace, the black press-on trim which covers the seam where the top and bottom sections join.
And I'm looking for ideas on a replacement hub cap for the original wheel.
