Wait... you mean there is another meaning other than cookouts and swimming pools?
I live close to a National Cemetery and I make sure I ride through it every year over the Memorial Day weekend. Organizations stick US and PA Flags in the ground for every Serviceman/Servicewoman that gave the ultimate sacrifice since 9/11/2001.
What started as a few flags on one side of the road has grown into a sea of flags lining both sides of the road. It is a very sobering sight. There are over 7,000 flags in the ground this year...

My flag pole holder broke so I stuck it in the mail box...not pretty but it worked. I have the flag that was on my dads casket.
