    Anti Sway Bar

I agree that the bike end of the sway bar is sticking way out, unsupported, so it would need to be braced in two planes to be effective. Also, most torsion bar ends are connected to other appendages by means of links. On our sprint cars we used teflon (or nylon) blocks attached to a pad for that...

    Anti Sway Bar

The idea that I had was to make the leading arm the end of the sway bar, using a needle (or roller) bearing to fit inside that cross tube and around the torsion shaft. Yep, lots of rework, but it sure would simplify things. I've made several fuel and oil-separator tanks for my race cars in the...

Mike, did you get yours hooked to your XS yet?

    Shock absorber

That shock bushing kit looks a lot like the bushing ends I used on my mounting struts. I've used these Pete & Jake's strut ends for decades to make up suspension struts and engine mounts. They are just indestructible.

    Anti Sway Bar

Martin, I have long been inspired by your TP. That dual-level rack on back is of interest, especially since I have a kennel to carry my dog in and that rack would be perfect for holding it plus giving me extra space for more stuff above it. I've never read any answer to the question, but is...

    Vetter Terraplane

Randy, Where are you located? $1500 for the kit sounds awfully high! Maybe I should get into the business! If you were anywhere near enough to Kansas CIty to bring the bike/car, I would love to do the connection. Harleys are pretty easy to connect to since a lot of their frame is exposed for...

What Monroe part number are those air shocks you used?

    EXCELLENT! Nice installation.

    AirheartBrakeInstructions

I would like to correct this. The brake model used on the TP is the 175H series Airheart, not the 150. They both use the same master cylinder, but the 175H is a bigger unit, and they do not have the same bolt spacing.

Ooo! Not that far! I live in Independence, MO, just on the east side of KC. Get your TP hooked up and lets ride! I'm just putting the final touches to mine and will be riding in another week or two. What are you hooking it to?

    Vetter Terraplane

As Brian said, you at least have the basic hardware to do the job,.....maybe. Each bike is unique in it's requirements to safely connect to a sidecar. Heavier bikes, like yours, require even more considerations. For example, one of the biggest contributing factors to steering wobble on a sidecar...

    Terraplane Limited Edition

That bike next to the Terraplane is a 1984 Kawasaki Voyager 1300cc six cylinder. That is a full-dress cruiser as produced by the maker. WAY ahead of it's time back in the '80's. It was meant to surpass the Aspencade's sales, but it was way too heavy and top heavy, too. Cost about a thousand...

    Nice Original Terraplane

This is the supplement, but if I'm not mistaken, it's included in the main owner's manual found elsewhere online. It' mostly just a troubleshooting section.

    Nice Original Terraplane

Here are the instructions for the Yamaha XS1100, 1979, complete. Also, FWIW, I have the set of basic brackets to mount to this bike. SOme of the u-bolts and other smaller pieces of fasteners are gone, but if somebody needs these, let me know.

    Nice Original Terraplane

My copy of the KZ1100 manual is missing page 4. but, except for some specific bracketry, most instruction manuals use the same text and illustrations. So, just see the Yamaha manual to fill in what's missing.

    Terraplane Limited Edition

I'm not so sure Vetter ever did make a Limited Edition. The two emblems are simple little clear plastic stick on pieces that could be added anytime. However, it does seem to be a different graphics color scheme. I see nothing else different from any other TP. Unless someone can tell me the...

    Greetings from Semi-Terraplane newbie!

Thanks for the info on the damper and boot! I have yet to find the right shock for the sidecar, but I'm begining to think I may have to just find something close and modify the mounts to work. The other idea I had was to make up an adjustable mount for the top of the shock that would be...

    Greetings from Semi-Terraplane newbie!

Martin, Very nice rig! I love all the mods done to it, like the new taillight location and the beautiful body work to accomplish that. I especially like the rack on back, which I will be duplicating on mine. I have a kennel to carry my service dog with me that I need a rack to hold. And, above...

    Terraplane Limited Edition

The beauty of a bike this big is that it's mass and wheelbase will allow the hack to be mounted slightly farther out than would normally be done with no ill handling effects. My first Voyager had it's Spyder sidecar mounted with lots of clearance to the saddlebag. (see pic) This time I will be...
