You've got the original wheel right there, so if they didn't replace the original axle stub, you can easily restore it. Here's the bearing number for the two bearings used: Amcan L44643LA Taper I found them on Amazon for $4.95/each, but now they are $9.95/each, plus another $9.95 for shipping...

    Parts list

Well, if you want a bike that looks like maybe they were made to mate together, look for a good Kawasaki Voyager 1300 sixer, like mine. The styling just seems to be along the same lines. They look so good together.

Not sure what it's called, but around the openings around the mounting plates they used sheets of a black putty-like material. Also used this anywhere else there could be a leak. A better choice from today's technology would be the stuff 3M makes to seal body seams before the primer coat goes...

    Terraplane Brakes

The stock brakes are indeed the Airheart 175 calipers and the small master. There is another thread about these on this forum. If your car mounts pretty much as intended, you could get by with all the stock components for the pedal and master mounting. But, I have found very few installations...

    Terraplane Windscreen Attachment Method

Just a couple of preliminary comments about your existing windshield. That is NOT a factory bracket on the front edge! It's nicely made, but not stock! The front edge of that shield tells me it's also not a stock factory windshield. The radius of the folds and unfinished front edge are not the...

    Terraplane on '06 BMW R1200RT

Not sure about the differences between the R1200RT and the R1200C, but there is a '98 R1200C with a Terraplane for sale now on the Sidecarist forums. Any bike with a tubular frame can be mated to a Terraplane. Sometimes it just takes some clever connection points.

Help with '82 Honda CBX-Terraplane marraige, source custom mounts?

Dutch, I re-read your last post. That decelleration shimmy is due to incorrect toe in/lean and/or lead. Almost all rigs can eliminate that shimmy by correct alignment, without the need for a damper. A damper is a crutch for the real cause. Again, go to www.sidecar.com and inquire of the pros...

Help with '82 Honda CBX-Terraplane marraige, source custom mounts?

I would caution against using just any old welding/fabrication service to connect your bike to the sidecar! There's a lot more to the correct connection than just coupling them together! Go over to www.sidecar.com and ask around there, especially of the dealers/builders. There's a lot to learn...

    Spoked wheel on a Terraplane

WOW! I love it! How often does one get to see a Terraplane torn completely apart? So cool! Thanks for sharing that. If you get a chance could you please get some numbers/names/brands of the crimp joint cover that hides the joint between the top and bottom halves? I think that would be a great...

    Spoked wheel on a Terraplane

BTW, do whatever you have to assure yourself that the painters can't take your rig out for a joy ride! They tend to think a sidecar rig couldn't be hard to drive, so they "just go for a quickie" and you lose a rig! Disable the bike somehow so they have to push it around their shop! Let the owner...

    Spoked wheel on a Terraplane

I'm a retired electrician by trade, too! It put food on the table, but my passion was racing, welding, metal fab and hot rods. I spent about 8 years in machine shop before getting into electrical. I'm curious, what "bumper" are you talking about? I'm getting ready to take my mounts apart to...

    Spoked wheel on a Terraplane

Damn, I thought I replied to you on this! The stock Terraplane wheel does have a very narrow hub section, so it's axle is relatively short compared to other wheels. You probably won't find a wheel to fit the Terraplane's axle, off the shelf. I suggest looking around first for a hub for a spoked...

    Vetter Terraplane

Randy, been waiting to see your progress. As for how to solve your wheel issue, there are several ways to go on this. Maybe the easiest and possibly the cheapest all around would be to find a custom bike shop and have them fit a bare hub to your axle, then lace up the correct rim (probably the...

    Terraplane brakes

Yes, Cessna 150's, 172's and 185's used the 175 series brakes. Not sure just which Pipers used them, though. A lot of current homebuilts use them, too. We lived in So. Cal. when we raced, so we had lots of tracks around us. It was sorta the Mecca of kart racing! Agoura, Azusa, Southgate and...

    Terraplane brakes

I started this a few nights ago, but this forum platform has some weird quirks to it. One is that it turns pics upside down, and two is that while writing it just deletes the whole thread! Maybe I write too much and that's how it tells me so! So, I'll give it one more try. So, if the pics are...

What will you be matching your wheel to? Will you have the brake? Yeah, pics, we want to see pics. LOTS of pics! This is my latest.

TP ad/brochure added to the gallery

Hi, Mike! A couple of times I have flipped my TP open and just sat in it, then tried coaxing my little fur-gurl in with me. It's worked a couple of times. I guess I just need to be a bit more patient and to work her up to it. I use a small trailer to take her along behind my recumbent trike, and...

TP ad/brochure added to the gallery

Hi, Mike! I frequently look at your gallery pics, and was just noticing that you, too, seem to have the same problem I have with the factory seat belt. I see an extension belt added to yours! Mine won't even connect! I've checked and it's as extended as possible, so Vetter MUST have also had to...

TP ad/brochure added to the gallery

Good to hear you're gaining some good experience without mishaps! Considering the bike you have compared to mine, sounds like you have a good amount of "ballast" with your dog and sand. A Voyager is 960lbs and they are notorious for being top-heavy with their 7.5gal. tank on top, plus their huge...
