    2nd Terraplane on '75 GL1000

My COVID project is mechanically finished. 1975 GL1000 frame up resto with leading link suspension - all powder coated. Here it is hooked to my 2nd Terraplane. Cosmetics are next - I'll be stripping both Terraplanes to the frames, powder coat and repaint the bodies. Also will better integrate...

    USCA National Meet 2017

After Doug Bingham passed, Griffith Park wouldn't let the rally continue. Hart Park in Newhall was selected to continue the tradition as a memorial to Doug. Try: https://www.facebook.com/SideStrider/?pnref=story We were there: Later, Martin

    Why we have a Terraplane

Great ride to where the June Gloom meets the mountains at Bouquet Reservoir. Aleks loves these rides - especially when they include lunch... The reservoir water level is the highest I've seen in over 40 years.

    Anti Sway Bar

"Do you Tig weld?" Picked up a Tig/plasma cutter combo from Eastwood last year but haven't found the time to set them up and learn their use. "I was a machinist many years ago, too, and had my own Bridgeport mill and a small Logan turret lathe for a long time." Presently I have a...

    Anti Sway Bar

"BTW, an aluminum screw-on cap on an aluminum filler neck is a bad combination." I hadn't noticed that the cap is also aluminum. Galling and cross threading would be a problem.

    Anti Sway Bar

"The idea that I had was to make the leading arm the end of the sway bar, using a needle (or roller) bearing to fit inside that cross tube and around the torsion shaft. Yep, lots of rework, but it sure would simplify things." The other problem is the bike end of the sway bar coming out of the...

    Anti Sway Bar

Greetings Bruce, "I've never read any answer to the question, but is that a close clone to the TP body, or is that a highly modified TP? It does look much better, but I wouldn't like not having a top that opens for entry. " A PO had bonded the lid to the body and filed in all the gaps. My son...

    Anti Sway Bar

With ~1000 miles on the swaybar/airshock combo, canyon driving is soooo much more enjoyable. Super slab riding is comfortable and handles the chop on the I-5 very well. I've bought a .800" diam bar to experiment with but haven't installed it yet. Next mod will be eliminating the right...

    Shock absorber

Greetings trikebldr, The rig, after adding the sway bar, handles very well now. We've put over a thousand miles in canyons and freeways with great results. With the airshock alone, the rig was unsettling in right turns. I got the shock parts on Amazon: Monroe MA785 Max-Air Air Shock Absorber...

    Anti Sway Bar

Greetings all, The rig was pretty 'floaty' after I added an air shock to the chair. A weekend of work resulted in this anti-sway bar and linkages. It utilizes a 43" - .650" diameter NASCAR bar with aluminum arms. Bronze bushings and 7/8" shaft collars locate it within a 1.5" steel tube...

Terraplane with Headlight? Ever seen one?

Nice! What is the source on the front lights? Thanx, Martin

    Shock absorber

I posted this on the Yahoo group earlier. The original shock on the chair is pretty weak and bottoms out with my son on board. First I tried a cheap shock to trial fit (ebay - CN made). Looks pretty, but again bottoms out - needs a heavier spring. Since we eventually want to do trips with...

    Greetings from Semi-Terraplane newbie!

Thanx for the kudos. The rig came as you see it other than the steering damper. What air shock have you found that fits the Terraplane? The spacing is fine on the brake pedals. My 13EEEE boot can cover both together or separately. I find the sidecar brake pretty weak - alright for cornering...

    Greetings from Semi-Terraplane newbie!

I took some pix of the interior and discovered that the hatch has been bonded to the top while the car was apart. The exterior bodywork is excellent, as there is no evidence of the procedure. Other clues lead me to believe that this is a modified Terraplane. Later, Martin
