Welcome to the forum.
I cannot speak about the 650, but the fairing will help tremendously on long road trips. Getting out of the direct wind makes a big difference and lets you cover more distance because you won't be as fatigued by fighting the wind. I had a an 85 GS550L and regularly rode...
Not really. 84 was the last year that a Goldwing was offered as a naked and it was the only year it was offered as a 1200. This one is number 2923 and I bought it with 7100 miles on it. Now it has 18000 but I need to rebuild the motor all because of a blown head gasket.
Oops! I forgot the...

There are a few that think early Goldwings were meant to be, and should remain naked. There is even a forum for people that have that affliction. Desertrefugee is a member there also.

I was going to suggest this forum to you, but it appears you found your way here.
The clips would negate the need to drill holes in the windscreen and are similar to the Windjammer fairing (just larger), but it appears that yours does not...

By the way AV... make sure you get the heaviest weight rated...
I used to run the Shinko 230's. The tire cost about $70 and two tires would last about as long as one tire that would cost me $300. I do all my own mounting/balancing so it was just the cost of the tire that I had to deal with. The compound is a little bit softer, but the traction is...
My guess is that it was the Veter company after Craig sold it. I think I remember talking to someone that bought a NOS one piece unit that came with Vetter name plates on the speaker grills.
I had a set similar to those and quickly swapped them out for a set for a 1983 GoldWing. I am not sure if they would fit the 1000 frame though. I wanted the 1983 bars because of the upright piece that the 80 through 82 did not.
I think the most desirable for the 1000 are similar to these, but...
