    Vetter Fairing Identification Help

I have to disagree on the reflector as Carol's pre-production Windjammer II (Test fairing #1) had the side reflectors (or optional lamps?) Having never seen in person, as far as I can recall, a Windjammer I or II, I'd have to guess yours is an low serial number Windjammer II. (Carol's...

    Considering this Vetter GL

That looks as close to what you are looking for as you are likely to find. Even though it is a '79 instead of a '78, there were 'few' (mostly cosmetic) differences between the two. I think Honda was concentrating their efforts on the GL1100 that was released for the 1980 model year. From what...

    Odd Windjammer Bracket Mounting Surface

Just don't rule out another fairing, that is NOT cut for Kawasaki. This was a $5 fairing off eBay that was within driving distance. And it came out OK. You just have to watch and wait for the deals. Seller had $100 shipping in the auction, but when I asked he said local pickup was fine.

    Odd Windjammer Bracket Mounting Surface

As you have been working on this problem for a while now, I'd suggest expanding your search. Shipping on a fairing is expensive, but if you could find one locally (that you can pick up), they often can be got at good prices. Check craigslist, local salvage yards, eBay locally, or local bike...

    Just happened upon this . . .

While high, it was just a deposit to insure they got their key back. Basically 'loaning' the key for free (like AutoZones tool loan program.) Maybe, maybe not. I've read numerous posts where the dealer would refer to a locksmith or try to sell new locksets. YRMV! That said, I strongly recommend...

    Vetter Windjammer Mounting Bracket

Why? Do they not work? The lock won't come loose or the bag? The lock does not hold the bag on, the spring clip does. The lock spreads the spring clip to release the bag. Have a new key cut? Most of the one sided keys are very common key blanks that most locksmiths should be able to cut. The...

'80 Suzuki GS Vetter mount question

Most of the info on Craig's site relates to the WJ. I would think the WS would be similar. http://www.craigvetter.com/pages/Vetter_Fairings/Home-made-mounts.html

    I broke the forum

I'm not seeing any recent change. Clear the cookies and it looks like Larry Fine's screenshot. Select a different style and it looks like AVetterXS's screenshot. I'm thinking you need to select the style you want, as the 'default'?

'80 Suzuki GS Vetter mount question

No Suzuki/Vetter experience, but, IMHO, if the mount is not a one piece and welded, there is a reason. Such as one in front and one in back. If it mounts solid and looks right, that must be the way it was intended.;)

    I broke the forum

OK looking deeper I found I've been using [OUTDATED] Vetter Owners Group [Drift] style and noticed no difference on the forum. With cookies cleared the site reverts to Default Style . Not having used Vetter Owners Group [Drift] style before, the formatting in the header seems off. Is that what...

    I broke the forum

Looks like the update overwrote or deleted your 'style.' That or a pointer to your style got changed (deleted.) No Xenforo experience, so not sure how it works.

Need help disassembling Cycle sounds and radio

Assuming you have a Windjammer fairing, (there was a cycle sound that fit in the hondaline fairings,) there are several styles but the ones I've seen use the top 4 windshield bolts (or clips) to hold the whole assembly in the fairing. The nuts have to be accessed thru the speaker holes. Yes the...

KZ1300 trunk mount in search of for 79

From what I can see of the rack in your last pic this looks very similar, although in rough shape. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Kawasaki-KZ-750-B-Twin-Rear-rack-Back-Rack-Luggage-Rack-Stock-8847-/282032074370?hash=item41aa6bee82:g:0fwAAOSwLVZV2xdD&vxp=mtr

KZ1300 trunk mount in search of for 79

From what I can see http://www.craigvetter.com/images/Vetter%20Fairings/Windjammer-instructions-images/Windjammer_instructions/KZ1300%2079-81.pdf There should have been a luggage rack with the saddlebag mounts. A PO may have decided he/she didn't want one and discarded it years ago. I have the...

KZ1300 trunk mount in search of for 79

Can't tell from your pic, but does your bag mount have an integrated luggage rack? The trunk will mount to most any luggage rack, Vetter or other. http://www.craigvetter.com/images/Vetter%20Fairings/Windjammer-instructions-images/Windjammer_instructions/Tail%20Trunk%20Inst704kb.pdf

Mounting to a hard tail frame?

Welcome neighbor, I have a Terraplane also, but can't answer your questions. A general consensus is there were less than 1000 made and I imagine most were delivered with mounts for the most popular "big" bikes of the time. Mounting to anything else is beyond my skill set (and possibly mounting...

Windjammer orange wire to fuse box

In the fairing, the orange wire is for "horn switch or accessory." I'd look inside the fairing and see if it is hooked up to anything.
