Windjammer SS fairing turn signal / horn grills

Found this picture that shows the grill holes quite well, just wondered what was normal to go inside the fairing to keep the water out.

Windjammer SS fairing turn signal / horn grills

Built into the turn signal unit is a grill that I assume is where the air horn option would sit behind. If this option is not installed is there normally a blanking cover behind these grills or as mine just a piece of foam rubber to stop the water coming in?

UK MOT Test lighting requirements for Vetter Windjammer SS

Just had my other bike put through its yearly test and asked the MOT tester about my Kawasaki with the Vetter SS fairing as regards lighting requirements. He said that the UK law states that if the motorcycle has "always on" main head lights as many newer bikes such as my Honda have there is no...

My Vetter Build 6 years in the making.

Nice looking bike you have built there, your excellent close up pictures also confirm that the lowers I have on my SS are from a GL as suspected, I had to trim the top of the back panels away to clear the rear rocker covers on my Kawasaki.

    CB900F Torque Commuter Windjammer ?

Found this on eBay US, New and only $14.95 BIN, it says its a Torque Commuter Windjammer and is being sold with a Vetter set of installation instructions, another interesting thing is if you look at one of the pictures it appears to have 2 locking hard covers for the side pockets which appear to...

    Wiring help

Geting wiring to work is just some magical "smoke and mirrors" to most people, more smoke than mirrors if black turns out to be live as you said!

    Nitro Top/Fuel Harley

I used to go to Santa Pod here and watch the racing many years ago, at that time when big names came over from the states they more often than not sold the cars/ bikes to racers in the UK to fund next years projects and save on return shipping I guess.

    Hi from Norfolk, UK

I had a problem with different locks / no keys so bought 10 from eBay see link, they needed a bit of filing as the striker plate mount was a different fitting but eventually made them all fit and if you buy 10 they are keyed alike, maybe worth getting 1 as a trial as I did, make sure you can...

    Windjammer SS

I thought of that but would have to find a replacement socket or rewire the existing one as the existing dual contacts would not work correctly for a single filament dual contact bulb as the ground would need to be on one of the pins insted of the casing with the dual filament type I believe.

    Windjammer SS

Yes that would give much better contrast, I think this would still give a problem in the UK as road users associate any amber lights as turn signals so still could get confused on approach to a junction with the running light on if they could only see one side of the bike. Automatic...

Windjammer SS mounting bolts washers and gaskets

Thanks for the info, Rickman use a thick rubber gasket between fairing and frame and I think I have a couple of spares somewhere I can punch an extra hole in and use, I will get some rubber washers for the frame bolts.

    Windjammer SS

As the inbuilt turn signals have dual filament bulbs I have just disconnected the feed to the second filament of the bulbs that are used for running lights, the other filament is still connected for turn signal indication.

Windjammer SS mounting bolts washers and gaskets

Hopefully going to have the time to mount the SS later this week and a couple of questions please, does a WJ have a rubber vibration gasket between the bottom of the fairing and the top of the frame mounting bars normally? If so I will make a couple. Also is there normally plastic or rubber...

    Windjammer SS

Wiring loom is now sorted I decided to leave the amber running lights disconnected for the time being, reason for this is as because in the UK amber lights are not a normal fitment except for turn signals I think if a car driver only saw one running light from the position they were in on a side...

    Windjammer V in Oslo, Norway.

Look forward to seeing your progress, I have had my ST for over 30 years, current project is to be able to mount my Rickman Polaris and Windjammer SS using the same mounting frame so I can choose which one to use. Polaris is all sorted and now working on the SS.

    Windjammer V in Oslo, Norway.

Hi This is the one I have made for my Z1000ST so will be similar, its a Windjammer mount with Rickman top bars welded onto it so the frame mounting points should help, if you can find a Rickman mount easier where you are you could drill the WJ to accept the front mounting points, the back ones...

    Windjammer SS

Found this so hope all will be OK at next MOT Amber lamps located within the indicator lamp must not adversely affect the operation of the indicator i.e. the indicator must go on and off to function not dim and bright. 1. Operate the direction indicators on each side in turn and check the...

    Windjammer SS

Side lights on motorcycles in the UK are normally a single small bulb inside the headlight unit which means if your main headlight bulb blows you do no lose all your frontal light, they also light up the numberplate and rear red lights, on some older bikes such as mine there is a key position...

    Windjammer SS

My first look at putting the SS on the Z1000ST, its only held on by the back 2 mounting bolts at the moment, I need to drill the 2 front ones to line up with the Rickman Polaris mount its sitting on, back hole locations are the same for both, the lowers look like a pretty close fit as well...
