I had to cut the centre rails out on a Rickman fairing frame I had many years ago as the exhaust headers on the aftermarket exhaust came out further than the stock ones, it did not seem to make any difference to stability although Rickman used thicker tubing than Vetter for their mounts.

Thanks for that and is similar to what I had planned, I have now just had delivered a white led light bar which I plan to mount off the front brake pipe splitter bracket, the indicators will be left as standard Vetter with just the running light feed to the second lamp filement disconnected.
Here is a picture of the hole with the grill and turn indicator removed, if you were planning to mount something in there I measured the diameter and its just under 44mm.
