It was that time of year again for the NHRA Top Fuel drag races at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. Unless the current owner gets something figured out, this could be the last year at HPT. I believe the city was in talks about buying the track, and I really hope someone does, because HPT is known for producing some of the fastest times.
Anyways, I had to go check out the Nitro Top/Fuel Harley bikes and oh man, I was in love. I'll have to wait and see how the rest of the pictures turned out, and get them from my dad. I was using his Sony A99 DSLR and a Sigma 50-500mm lens (set on 500mm) from the big end of the track to take pictures. Here are a few that he had posted to Facebook:
One from my iPhone
And a little video:
Hopefully some of the other pictures turned out, I was pretty impressed how the actual drag race pictures turned out considering we were at the big end and taking pictures of them at the starting line and trying to follow. We were able to see one round of the top fuel dragster/funny cars and then the rain moved in and that finished out the day.
I love going to the races, and something about those top fuel cars/bikes always gets me going.
