Hi I recently joined the forum. I bought myself my first bike a couple years ago. A 1981 GL1100. It went through a few owners before me so lots of little changes and additions and problems have been made from previous owners. It had a WJ 4 on it when i got it. I have since then added bags to it and I've got the trunk but need to source a few more parts for it. (Need a spring for the lid if anyone has a spare lying around) I got one heck of a deal on it. The guy I bought it from posted an add on Craigslist for $750. He bought it off a navy guy that was deploying so he got it for 750 and was selling it for what he paid for it. His wife had just surprised him with a fairly new Honda Shadow Spirit 1100. I offered 700 and it was mine. Everything works I've only had to do routine maintenance and a few minor problems. All in all i can;t beat 700 for such a nice bike.

Welcome to the forum from another Wing owner! A simple word of caution... resist the urge because one is never enough...

As far as the spring goes, read this tread and then take a trip to a hardware store:

I have read that post. AVetterXS guided me to it already. I am confused about it though. Can I get a replacement spring from a hardware store? I don't have any dimensions for the spring. My trunk didn't have one at all when I got it.

It's just a screen door spring. They come in a longer length than you will need: just cut it down to the size that you need and bend a ring into an attaching point.

Are the mounting clips still on your truck? Should be on the left side when looking at it from the rear.

Yeah I've still got the mounting clips for it. It was a donated trunk so it may have been scavenged for parts before I got it.

Alright that would be great. I got the old rubber mounts off of it today. Just need to source some new ones and should be ready to rock after that.

www.craigvetter.com is the website for the original manufacturer of the trunk and he sells replacement bungees in the store, as well as many other parts. And welcome from Washington state from another winger!
