I bought my Honda CL350 brand new off the showroom floor summer of 1970 from the Honda dealer in New Orleans. Soon found out (Cycle World?) about Vetter fairings, decided to order one, called, and Craig Vetter answered the phone. He sold me a "blemish" 1500 Phantom in white. Later I painted it gloss black. In addition to being my daily driver, I rode the bike back and forth between New Orleans and Tallahassee Florida - about ten trips, with two trips all the way to Miami. At 80 mph on highway 90, non-stop. Yes, I was visiting my girl friend (and yes, we are still married). Could never have done it without the fairing.

The bike still looks pretty good, starts right up and continues to receive many compliments, 70,000 miles and 44 years later. It is amazing how many people get excited and say "I used to have a Honda like that....".

I removed the fairing many years ago, but have kept it. Not sure where the windshield is. The fairing is a little worse for the wear, but just has surface cracks in the black lacquer paint. Looking at the pictures on Craig's web site, now I remember what those two rods I have in the box are for - windshield supports.

Welcome David! Thanks for the story. Love it when people share their experiences about a very cool part of motorcycle history. You should definitely restore the fairing and put it on the bike, or at least showcase it. There are not many of those around these days. Show some pictures of it in the technical forum, people can always use them for reference. The anatomy of a Phantom.
