Just recieved these Rickman lowers NOS but one has some damage, they are for a Gl1000 Goldwing but hopefully be able to repair, cut and paint to suit the Z1000, they are quite a size!
After recently recieving a defective WJ frame from the US I sent a message to the seller and I am happy to say I have been given a refund, it does not cover the Customs charges or help with getting the fairing fitted but thought it worth a mention that there are good sellers out there willing to...
If its suddenly started smoking out of both pipes I would think fuel more likly than oil as that would point to a least 2 cylinders developing an oil leak together, maybe choke sticking? Sorry its been a long while since I had an XS so memory is a bit vague.
Sorry for the quality, pre-digital...
I believe it was produced late 70's early 80's and I would guess the single round headlight version came first then the twin headlight after as the compartment covers on the twin are solid and hinged and lockable as opposed to the Vetter style pop clip type on the round light models.

WJ mounting frame should be delivered in the next couple of days, 5 days to cross...
I now have the 2 locking fairing compartments working, I found a similar Lowe & Fletcher double sided key and was able to easy the lock barrels out, filed down the 2 incorrect brass lock pins to suit the key I have and rebuilt the locks, probably not as secure as original but they now lock...
Rear of the lighting enclosure as it was, the 2 rusty brackets were the remains of the relay mounts on the original.
The fitting on the left is the mount for the end of the headlight angle adjustment, pivots on the bracket at the front.
Well been busy on replacing wiring behind the headlight today, removed the old wiring and additional headlight relays as I already have these fitted on the bike.

Maybe the Rickman Brothers took some WJ measurements when they started! If I see a WJ lower here in the UK at the right price I will buy it and let you know.
