I've owned it since 1980. It has a whopping 20,000 miles on it. I did a mechanical restoration on it in 2010, it could use some TLC cosmetically. I do need to replace the windshield on the fairing as it is a little scratched.
AVetter - Back in the day we bought up all we could as far as bolt-on accessories for the "A" - as I recall we were not able to get the hardware required for the Vetter Luggage or it would have been Vetter. The fairing mount had been sitting on the shelf for at least a year or so. I worked for the shop and they were more than happy to see me take it. The one thing I didn't take was the radar detector for the fairing - it's not that I'm a speeder but I sure would like to have it. Thanks for letting me know about how to attach a full size image.
Tom - The oil in my "A" usually comes out as clean as it went in. In fact when I did the mechanical restoration I was amazed at how clean the inside of the engine was. I replaced all of the seals in the top end. This fixed the SOHC head gasket leak and the valve guide seals we as hard as rock - they weren't sealing well at all. I do have a Lockhart oil cooler and that may be one reason why the oil stays clean.
Cee Bailey is less expensive then the link I sent. I wonder if these guys are just reselling the Cee Bailey windshields. There can't be to many people making these things.
I have read that some people make their own. Looking at those prices...try and find a used one or try and clean up the windshield you have now. I have the taller version with vents and it is not perfect but it adds character to it
That would be my guess. Cee Bailey has a good rep in the aviation world. the .187 thick windshield is pretty much standard for light aircraft. This will be a purchase for this season, i'll let you know what I end up with.
