Wanted: Windjammer 4 lowers for 1980 Suzuki GS1000G

Before I put on the fairing the bike had a one piece bolt on rectangular highway bar. I wanted to keep it on with the fairing but it bolts to the frame in the exact same spot on the top as does the fairing. The lowers don't stick out further than the cylinder shape areas of the side covers so if...

Wanted: Windjammer 4 lowers for 1980 Suzuki GS1000G

Hey Seth, Nice bike, same color etc as mine! BTW, how did you attach the highway bars and the Vetter fairing at the same time? My bike came with a one-piece highway bar like yours but I had to remove it when I put the fairing on because it mounted to the same place on the double-down-tubes as...

Vetter lowers on air-cooled bikes in the summer. Yes/ no?

I got out early this morning for a ride to beat the heat. It was ~ 75 and dry when I left. As time went on, the temp probably got up to 85 or so. Did some fast and some slow riding. During a slow trip through a state park, I stopped a few times to take a picture or two and I noticed a LOT of...

Looking for input from the group on possible new Vetter product/ option

You're right Larry, I'd rather have them for free! I should have asked how much someone would pay for them. Nowadays sadly, 5.00 will just about cover shipping and PayPal fees. My next move is to price out chrome vinyl sheeting and the best method of perforation. Each side is different which...

Looking for input from the group on possible new Vetter product/ option

This seemed to be the place for this post so here goes..... I've posted in the wanted area looking for the chrome covers for Vetter fariing turn signals that were available back in the day to no avail. I remember my friend's '79 Goldwing came from the factory with them and it was easy to track...

    Cutting/ trimming lower fairings

Yea Mike, the stuff cuts pretty easily. I used a Dremil tool with a cuttoff wheel at the highest speed. It did a nice cut and the edges the melted just broke right off at the cut line. I little working with a file and sandpaper, followed by a black paint pen and they look factory!

Wanted: Windjammer 4 lowers for 1980 Suzuki GS1000G

Well I got my lowers trimmed and installed. It took a bit more work than I expected, but then I realized they may have been designed for a "Kawasaki by Vetter" fairing and that's why the holes were off just enough to make it a fight to properly install. They worked out pretty well though, check...

    Best ebay buy yet

Hey Ron, Just a thought- you might think about putting your rear view mirrors on your fairing- when I posted the pic of my two bikes I noticed my GW has them there too. I put them on my GS850G, and there on my now owned GSS1000G as well. It's MUCH EASIER and quicker to see what's behind you...

    Best ebay buy yet

All of the parts lined up waiting for clearcoat after pinstriping is a familiar sight! When you paint a bike the right way you increase the value drastically. I've seen so many bikes advertised for top dollar that were painted with spray cans and buffed out. Not so say that's a bad thing, (to...

    Best ebay buy yet

Ron, very nice work, and great buy on the yellow parts. BTW, your paint job looks professional- did you do a PSBC paintjob? (primer, sealer, basecoat, clearcoat) I did so on my Vetter 4 fairing last year and mounted it this season and the fairing looks better than the factory paint! Also, I had...

    Cutting/ trimming lower fairings

Hey Brian, They are purportedly "Type 3", for Vetter 4. I would gladly trade for a pair of known correct ones (assuming these are not) for my '80 Suzuki GS10000G. The lowers I had on my '80GS850G had no side extentions but I may have bought them after they were modified. Here's a crappy...

    Cutting/ trimming lower fairings

My fairing lowers are designed for a Kawasaki KZ900- KZ1000 but according to the Vetter application pages they should fit my GS1000G. They sorta do- but they will definitely need some work done first. Also, I don't really like the textured plastic piece that covers the carbs and restricts...

Wanted: Windjammer 4 lowers for 1980 Suzuki GS1000G

Larry- how are you doing on those pics? If your's are a better fit than mine we can still do the swap. Also, your thoughts on the fairing? Shipping would likely be too much, but I don't want to sell it locally if you want it. Rather have someone in the forum take it. Mark

Wanted: Windjammer 4 lowers for 1980 Suzuki GS1000G

Larry, Just to be sure, I held my lowers up to my bike and to my surprise- they fit! They are "Type 3" and according to the link you provided they fit Suzuki GS850 and GS1000 also! The only thing is they have the plastic extension with the Vetter logo on it that cover's the back of the cylinder...
