Hi,
I'm new at this sidecar stuff and I have a couple of questions. The shock absorber that I took off of my Terraplane sidecar today is a Monroe C-81, I looked and searched the C-81 and nothing comes up on the search. Does anyone know what replacement can be used to replace the existing shock absorber? I'm going to attach a couple of pictures and one I have a red arrow pointing to the upper swingarm and it has what looks like a big plastic cap and do I take this apart to lubricate it it? I don't know what to call it. Please see attached photos.

I'm gonna guess that cap comes off similarly to the center bearing cap on a front brake drum. Inside you'll find bearings that you can clean, inspect before repacking or replacing.

The shock doesn't seem to be currently available from monroe. I'd suggest calling or emailing a vendor that can change out springs on motorcycle shocks to tailor them to rider weight, perhaps they can set you up with a suitable replacement.
