Upper mount failure

Greetings all,

Does anyone have knowledge and/or direct experience of the upper mount failing on a Terraplane? It is opined that the the welded straps are a weak point.

I've replaced the disintegrated rubber bushings on the Trim Grip with spherical bearings to eliminate the play. Seems to work well. I am concerned about the additional stress on the mounts - they are inspected monthly.

As stout as the TP was built this connection does seem to be weakest mount. During installation had to slightly bend these to get right alignment. Was careful to only bend the strap and not stress the weld. Mounted on ‘83 Interstate no issues after 5,000 miles.
