Is this what I think it is?

Looks like a Vetter Windjammer II on a NSW Kawasaki Z1000 Police bike. The photo is dated 1981. I had no idea that Australian Police ever used Vetter fairings. Unless of course, it's not a Vetter, but it sure looks like one.

Here's the link.

These pics are dark and don't show much detail. But, I think it is a copy-Windjammer for the following reasons: The windshield seems too sharply raked back... the front seems too pointed. This would be the result of making a fi-glass mold from a real Windjammer. Such molds warp. Fairings that came from such a mold would be even more warped.. looking like this. The edging has no chrome on it and is not the real thing. The windshield is bolted on with bolts and washers... not my style. I do not recall sending Windjammers to the Australian Police.

I thought it was a bit suspicious.

Here's one of your real ones, a Windjammer II on my 1978 Yamaha XS1100. I took this pic this morning before a ride through the southern highlands of New South Wales where the temperature at this time of year barely gets over 8 celcius. I rode with a group of riders who hadn't ever seen a Windjammer before. I was asked, as I almost always am, where I got it and how might they get one. When I tell them the story, they can hardly believe they are no longer in production. I bought this Windjammer about seven years ago from a bloke in Atlanta,

Georgia. It was on his R80 BMW and I kept the indicators. I've used your new edging and screen screw kit and I've also got your new decals ( for the trunk and saddlebags). Believe it or not, I also have two sets of new old stock decals for all luggage pieces but these may not be serviceable. I found brand new lids for all three luggage pieces and new trunk side panels. I have a full set of (new) Vetter genuine badges from your site as well. When I can find someone who can match the Macho Maroon paint, I'll bring the machine up to concourse standard but it will still be my daily ride.

I just wish I would take more pictures! My trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway last summer; there were so many chances to stop and take pictures but I was short on time so I couldn't.
