    Terraplane brake pedal on GL1100

I agree that SC brake in a left turn is undesirable. But, my style (and training to wife) is not to be braking hard in turns. Get the braking done, THEN turn. A little trail braking (including the SC brake) is inevitable, though. The SC brake will not make much difference in that scenario, I...

    Terraplane brake pedal on GL1100

I have a proportioning valve in-line with the sidecar brake (thinking I could adjust it according to how much weight is in the sidecar), but it is wide open. One solution would be to move the proportioning valve to the Bike's front brake line (thus restricting pressure to the bike brake in...

    Terraplane brake pedal on GL1100

Not to my satisfaction, but not so bad I tore it out :) I just have too much caliper piston area on the bike front brake compared to the caliper piston area on the sidecar brake. The solution is to go from 4-pot to 2-pot calipers on the bike. The GSXR calipers and YZF750 rotors are too much...

Glad you got it sorted out.

    Terraplane brake pedal on GL1100

I'm not using the Terraplane brake. This uses a Honda rear brake master and CBR1100xx caliper. I think the pylons were for a Goldwing.

    My other XV920

Thanks. It is UreChem eyeKandy Wine Red 3 stage. Probably pretty close to the original XV920RH paint.

    My other XV920

Yes, an early '80s Seca 750 tank. I preferred the XV920 tank, but getting a fuel pump in there was beyond my budget and schedule restrictions. Choices for external fuel pumps is surprisingly limited. A few choices for ~ 50HP and under, and then a big gap up to 300HP, 7amp monsters. The Seca...

    My other XV920

The tug for my Terraplane is a Yamaha XV920, made from spare parts acquired during my long-term XV920R project. That project is finally at the title/tags stage. I am currently tuning the EFI and taking a 2nd run at the seat cover:

    I need a trim control for a terraplane,,buddah31552@yahoo.com

I made the adjustments needed (bolt diameter and possibly drilling the mounting hole - I don't recall exactly) to get a no-play, metal-to-metal connection at both ends. Of course, I have also found that I never actually adjust the thing. Once I got the rig tracking straight, I have never has...

    A "Leaner" Terraplane

Actually, I recently complete a linked braking setup on my rig. So far, the results are not stellar, but I know what I need to do to fix it. I 'teed' off the front brake line with a braided stainless hose to the frame. Then steel 3/16 tubing the rest of the way to the sidecar swingarm. Then...

    A "Leaner" Terraplane

I doubt that there is a single answer to your question. It will depend on the bike. You need the spacing such that the bike can lean to the right as far as you would ever want to lean, without the bike touching the sidecar. If you compromise this, someday you will find yourself unable to make...

    My Vetterized Rig

Yes, I agree. Early in my other (neverending) project, I bought a XV920 engine (cheap) on Craigslist. The guy was nice enough to deliver it. When he arrived, he had most of a complete Virago (in pieces) in his pickup. With his wife off to the side, fists on hips, glowering at him, he...

    My Vetterized Rig

Yeah, i drove 2 hours each way to look at this one. With a rented trailer in tow. You might say i was a motivated buyer by the time i laid eyes on it. $1400 IIRC. In retrospect not a bad deal. I assume you have seen the ones for sale on sidecar.com and the terraplane.io email list. None very...

    BMW by Vetter

I like it. If I could have my 9 inch round XV920 headlight with the Quicksilver fairing, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Hmmm, I've been doing some custom fiberglass bodywork lately - maybe I should try it.

    Terraplane #432

I'm not sure which one is correct. Does the fixture in your sidecar have 2 screw holes or 3? I suspect it is the bottom one. [edit] according to this pic...
