Vetter references in 1982 Drag Specialties catalog

s'more Drag Spec Catalog images depicting Vetter stuff (including a Terraplane sidecar nose I think): It looks like the 1979 or so Windjammer equipped Wing in the photo was the basis of the artwork in the '82 catalog I posted above.

    WJ Night Stalker

Yes, the endging is gold instead of chrome, pinstripes are kinda silvery-gold. Vetter emblem on that Ebay auction fairing is def. chrome, like mine (blew the photo up and lightened it on my computer).

    WJ Night Stalker

Interesting; here is another Nightstalker, currently for sale on Ebay. It has the same chrome Vetter emblem on the headlight surround as my bike does, and in the same exact spot. I have to wonder then if it is a stock rather than custom touch...

New Vetter Equipped Goldwing owner (again, sort of)

Figured it is "topical" to revisit this thread... Attached is my 2014 holiday card, with my wife and I astride my Dad's old bikes. I made it a generic "holiday" / "season's greetings" card to apply in all cases, but *I* will have a VERY Merry Christmas this year, having found my Dad's long...

Vetter references in 1982 Drag Specialties catalog

Not seeing any sissy bars; the catalogs seemed focused on full factory dressers, though there is the occasional Vetter item and even an aftermarket "dual / solo touring" seat/trunk/saddlebag arrangement that is kinda like the similar era Silverwings (i.e. with a sliding trunk). Did Drag. Spec...

Vetter references in 1982 Drag Specialties catalog

Hmmm....think I saw I real nice one go on Ebay a month or so ago for about $60. I considered buying it, as mine has some minor scratches, but then decided there's nothing wrong with the bike having a slight "patina". By the way, there was an interesting story recently about the development of...

Vetter references in 1982 Drag Specialties catalog

Recently bought a set of 1982 Drag Spec. catalogs on Ebay, including lots of Goldwing chrome trim and other accessories, even apparel. Actually, in these catalogs, I can account for every aftermarket item my Dad's added to his Goldwing (recently re-found after 24 years) and plenty that he...

SOLD: Pair of Polk DB401 4" speakers / grilles - $30 plus shipping from NJ

Interesting. The Polk's tweeters are indeed quite obvious behind the mesh, which I am not sure I like. So mine are still for sale, haw haw! By the way, my dad had a '77 (I think it was) Hondamatic 750; I rode it a few times. I don't recall loving it. After he passed away in 1990, I listed...

Cycle Sound / Vetter Sound Speaker Grills

I prefer #6, but I am biased because that is what my Dad had (and I now have) on his bike (Vetter WJ5 fairing and sound system purchased circa 1981). I am sure if his was any of the other styles, THAT would be my favorite. :)

SOLD: Pair of Polk DB401 4" speakers / grilles - $30 plus shipping from NJ

Thanks, I would be curious to see the combo. I'm using J&M USK 9000s, which I saw recommended on this site and somewhere else. I can't say They are better or worse than the Polks, only that they are quite good. Plenty loud and no discernible distortion at the volumes I use.

SOLD: Pair of Polk DB401 4" speakers / grilles - $30 plus shipping from NJ

I'm offering for sale a set of the polk speakers and integrated polk grills only, and with no screws. Im using the #6 style Vetter grills with a different set of speakers, which i bought recently under the apparently (based on your recent post) mistaken assumption that the polk speakers could...

SOLD: Pair of Polk DB401 4" speakers / grilles - $30 plus shipping from NJ

Good to know, thanks! I still wonder how those tweeters would look under the "#6" style grills on my bike. The Polks are still for sale, as I rather like the sound of the ones I bought (apparently unnecessarily).

    Key blanks?

Thanks for the link to that thread, some good info there. The good news is I have a working key to the fairing pocket, so its just a matter of getting a copy made, either by a locksmith or at another box store (which I may try a couple more times first). Also I was able to get copies made at...

    Key blanks?

Hi, I have a single key for my right hand side hard case cover, tied having one made and was told it was most likely a Yale Y9, but two local big box stores did not have one such blank in stock. Anyone know what blanks typically work, or if there is even a "typical" one?

WANTED: NOS or near perfect Drag Specialties Early Goldwing (GL1000/1100) Valve cover

Well, now THIS is a travesty (in more ways than one)! Looks like a pretty nice example of the valve cover I need was used a a "footstop" of sorts...but they drilled two holes in the top of it. Otherwise I'd have had no hesitation to dismantle this work of "art", assuming I could get it for...

SOLD: Pair of Polk DB401 4" speakers / grilles - $30 plus shipping from NJ

I remember seeing you talk about that in another thread, was trying to picture how that might look / if some type of gap would be visible. Too late for me, but could you post a pic?

New Vetter Equipped Goldwing owner (again, sort of)

It's decent....gets plenty loud enough to be heard while riding. PLL tuner works nicely enough. I have to use the AUX jack on the front to play music from my I-phone. It won't work via the USB jack with my phone or my wife's Samsung Galaxy note. Haven't tried playing MP3s off a flash card in...

New Vetter Equipped Goldwing owner (again, sort of)

Guy who sold me the bike E-mailed me last week to say he had the original speaker grilles, sent them to me gratis. Of course, I had to install them, even if it meant changing out the Polk DB401s on the bike when I got it. They were juuuust a bit too modern looking, though the truth is, it was...
