There were literally thousands of those fairings made. Motorcycle salvage yards have them piled up in a corner or something like that. May want to sniff around in one of those if any are close by and see what you can find. Might have to shell out a few bucks to buy a complete fairing, but...
The Quicksilver headlight may just be a standard automotive rectangular headlight that was popular for many years. MY 79 Ford Fairmont had those. Auto salvage yards may be your best friend on that. Plus, I have a set of Hippo Hands also, but they are a reproduction. Still never used, I...
i thought the WJ IV had a more squared off bottom where the lowers fit. I had one and bought lowers thinking they would just fasten on. Well, after a couple hours with a heat gun they fit. The lowers were off a WJ IV from what I could find back then.
Hippo hands just slide over all the hardware on the handlebars including the mirror stems. Then zip them shut and stick your hands in and go. Takes a bit of getting used to as your mitts are sort of "trapped" inside and not as free to move them around. I have a new set never used but tried...
Oops!! I plead SENIOR MOMENT!! I am after all in my late 70's!! Yes, it is a monster of a fairing. Also the predessor to the current 'shark' nosed fairings the HD uses. The Windjammer lines were also copied by Honda on their fairings for 1200's or up as you can see if you park them all side...
When I had my Vetter stuff and re-painted it all, I used Gold colored reflector striping tape in !/8th inch width. Carefully warmed it with a heat gun for corner bends and such. Had to work slow and carefully but looked real good when done, plus added a nice visibility to all at night!!
You do know that Vetter made a fairing for the older HDs called a Vindicator?? Big heavy fibreglass monster that also had a accessory dash with all sorts of options. I have only seen one and it was still on a HD it came installed by the dealer back when new. I knew of a couple in a storage...
I would make a copy of it using the old one as a pattern. Might just come in handy some day if you would decide you want one or someone else would. Make the pattern copy out of heavy brown wrapping paper.
I bought a set off ebay a couple years ago, Never used. As I recall I paid $75.00 US dollars for them. I don't know if they are original or not, but have all the emblems and stuff. Look brand new. First $75 takes them home. Sold the bike I was going to use them on. I live in Northeastern N. D.
Well, after owning my 80 GL1100 for 20 years and a Terraplane sidecar for about 15 of those, I finally parted company with both. I sold the complete
package about a week ago. I got what I wanted out of it and the new owner seemed quite happy. He wanted something to haul his 'puppy' ( full...
I can't remember exactly who made that back rest system. I believe it may have been 'Triple A'. They made many accessories for bikes back then. I had a similar system on my Gold Wing when I bought it. Does your back rest slide forward and backward? Many of that style did, supposed to help...
Other than the side marker lights, it looks like the very first Windjammer I had back in 1973 or74. I had the first Windjammer in the Fargo/Moorhead area. Both Honda dealers sold many fairings because people had seen mine and talked to me about them. Unfortunately I did NOT receive any...
I have a Windjammer SS with IV lowers on a 80 GL 1100. I don't know how fast it really goes as the speedometer only goes to 85. I have had it past 6000 rpm's and it ran up there quite nicely and did not seem light as I recall. That was quite a few years ago and today my need for speed has...
I have been in touch with a gentleman in the Fargo area that used to own a HD dealership and may have at least one Liberator in one of his storage sheds. He would be willing to part with it. We did not talk about prices, this would be new in box so I would think $600 might be a fair price to...
I used a short piece of the "H" shaped plastic that is used to fasten/hold paneling together. Sadly mine is white plastic, but it has worked for about 10 years now.
What year is your bike, I am guessing a 78? I had a Black 79 back when new and loved it. Had to trade for a car in the fall cause winter riding in ND is really tough!
The fairings are in ND. Supposedly in a storage building. I have not seen them. I also have not contacted the owner as the new HD dealer would not give out his name or phone number. I have done some digging on my own and found his number, just don't know if there is a lot of interest out...
