My original brackets came off a 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim and were put onto my Maxim. The second set came of an older Goldwing. That set was put onto my Maxim when I mixed and matched the luggage with a different trunk mount and adjustable backrest.
I have no idea which set of brackets will fit...
Some "starter" pictures to get an idea of spare stuff I have. Click for larger version and/or to see entire album.
Misc Parts.
LIKE NEW smoke windshield in this picture.
3 Piece luggage set. Somewhere I have the saddlebag brackets.
3 Fairings - 1 WJ3; 2 WJ5
I also have 3 rougher...
I don't need/want alot of Cash but I don't needs someone local to take they stuff off my hands. :)
I also have a Vetter Helmet (FOR SHOW) a Vetter tri-color leather jacket and some Saddleman products (originally made/sold by Craig's brother) and at least 1 set of Hippo Hands I can part with.
Hey,
I'm moving soon and need to trim down the spare Vetter parts, fairings, luggage and wind shields. None are in perfect shape, but most are restore-able/usable.
I don't have pictures/list yet.
At this time I'm trying to get feelers to see if anyone is in the greater southern chicago-land area...
The sidecar was just a nifty feature to go with a fully vetter dressed GL1000. But I agree addons don't add value unless you WANT them for your self. I'd rather have a Terraplane on that GL1000 I pictured :)
ATM I'm looking at a 2006 Honda ST1300. It's definitely modern and should be more...
I've tried looking up Kelly Blue Book prices for used motorcycles. All I'm seeing is dealer trade/sell prices. Did I miss a link or is there a better site?
OK different Wing to discuss from Craigslist - 1980 GL1100 FULL Vetter dressed and an attached sidecar (Could take mom for a few rides and take it off).
What's that type of setup worth? (I suck at making fair best offers especially in my favor) - Assuming you want the side car - I definitely...
It's a same-day-trip if leave early in the AM.
Sounds to be in better condition. Still sounds like carbs need work and obviously fork seals and probably timing belt.
Is it actually worth the full asking price of $1900?
P.S. Never used foot/heel yet so I'd probably switch back or have to learn...
I didn't grow up around motorcycles and I learned to ride about 5 years ago.
Honestly beyond the rarity/limited run I don't understand the big deal about the Hurricane...
Feel free to enlighten me what's so different/cool about it. I do like the LOOK, but beyond that I don't get it.
$500 Carb job? OUCH I'm "project-poor" when it comes to my bikes :(
I really wasn't looking forward to making another bike road ready (to be expected for the age).
It will need:
Carbs cleaned, rebuilt, etc
New tires
New brake lines (factory original lines still on the bike)
Minor fiberglass...
Have you tried lining up the mounting holes?
You can always make adapter plates out of flat bar stock or square tubing if you just need to move the holes in/out/front/back/up/down a little.
My "parts" bike came with a Quicksilver installed. I have no idea if its the proper mount or a rigged/homemade one. I haven't tried to take it off yet.
I purchased a modern H4 housing and a LED headlight from TruckLite (Phase 5 or 6 - The 12V military style one) in my fairing.
The LED is still installed. The company makes a newer Phase7 version that looks more like a normal headlight assembly.
I passed today and probably won't go back for it.
Very hard to start eventually - Old gas, sticky carbs, leaky carbs, very stiff choke cable.
Other than tires and replacement seat everything looked original included the rubber brake lines.
It might be a runner after carb cleaning, but I don't...
