Sturgis was a blast! However, continuing east to Chicago, the road was rough enough to loosen and lose my left hand fairing turn signal lens.
Does anyone have a spare for sale or know of one somewhere? I still have a couple thousand miles left on this trip and could really use one.
Last year didn’t happen. Leaving Saturday AM for Sturgis and Chicago to pick up Route 66 and the PCH for the trip back. (Hoping the heat wave breaks by the end of August)
I found barrel keyed lock sets on Amazon and bought a set of 6 for $20 or so. It beats the heck out of having a total of 4 different keys plus bike ignition
10 lbs each bag and misc. load in the trunk . 100 miles, nothing broke, nothing fell off . There seemed to be resistance to locking the l/h bag onto the rack but after a few miles bungeed in place it was locked up just fine.
My 6600 mile Sturgis/ Rt 66 is looking doable
Wahoo! DISREGARD request! Turns out half of the hardware in the bag for this job didn’t even apply. The half that remained was missing about half the mounting bolts and assorted electrical connections.
Rack is on, turn blinkers are working, the bags go on in the AM and this weekend will be...
14 days away from leaving for Sturgis and cross country tour aboard my “new” 1982 KZ1000E. It’s taken NUMEROUS visits to mechanics and locksmiths but it’s time to install the rack and bags back on the bike.
I am very confused about the whole process and would love some tips/advice/instructions...
Greetings from the wet and wild Pacific Notthwest.
I bought my KZ a couple of years ago and have had it stored after a few rides due to family/work/life stuff.
I’m hoping to take it from WA down to Santa Monica and riding the full length of Route 66 from there.
