1978 fully restored with full Vetter package!

Here is my 78 GL1000 with full Vetter dress. Frame off restored bike and full restore on the Vetter including new paint, stripes, logos, new edging on both the fairing and lowers, windshield, cycle sound has been installed with the original 8 track stereo from 1978!

Great job Dave!

You have given me inspiration to get back onto my 79 GL1000 with full Vetter package.
I purchased new in 79. Complete disassembly in 87 for some minor repairs/ frame repaint then life happened.
Job transfer, marriage, kids, ,etc. Parts have been in boxes 35 years but in great shape. Now with kids grown and 3 years into retirement it is time to get back onto the bike!

Thank Ken. Yes I did the full frame—off restoration of the bike naked. I had the windjammer and lowers on it when I started. Then after a year riding it naked on a cool morning, I decided to restore the Vetter package. I found a nice set of saddlebags and trunk and then had a shop near me that does a lot of bikes paint them and apply the Vetter stripes.

I said it earlier and I'll say it again stunning resto! Its interesting how the big looks so much more like how it should have been sold stock with all the Vetter goods on it. When you see it naked it seems to be begging to be a full tour rig.
