Finally got approved! I've been reading this forum for a while! I like it here.

I ride a 1979 Electra Glide 1200 FLH King of the Highway full dresser.....

When I found my Shovelhead she had the full touring package.

Batwing fairing and hard saddlebags and Tour Pak (trunk).

Also the original 1979 Cycle Sound radio enclosure.

It's been sitting waiting for me to Fab some mounting brackets. Here we go......

Welcome! Mounting the Cycle Sound to the Batwing should be do-able... There's something about riding the vintage bikes that is more appealing than the newer ones for me. Nice ride!

Thanks! When I found my Shovelhead I also got the Cycle Sound enclosure from 1979.

Here is a picture. I'll try to get some more over the weekend.....

Cycle Sound enclosure model # 1HHX5P. I have the original "owners manual" also.

I did NOT get any mounting brackets tho......

There isn't much to the mounting bracket. Just a piece of flat stock with a few holes drilled in either end and a slight bend in it at a place to make the enclosure fit at the right place and angle.

I'm gonna have to get the enclosure out on the Batwing fairing and just stare at it
for while. I can pull out my "Strip Stock" book from a drafting school I attended
years ago and go from there. Perfect winter project.

I found a way to mount a modern DIN radio in an old Cycle Sound enclosure. First of all it can't be a full length DIN radio. DIN radios without CD players are half the length of standard DIN radios. This leaves plenty of room to mount the radio behind the front cover. You will need to cut the front opening slightly to allow access to the front of the radio. Someone cut the front of mine in a failed attempt to flush mount a DIN radio in it. I made a cover with access hole to cover the roughly cut part of the CS enclosure. Then I used the bracket mounting holes in the side of the DIN radio and a couple 90 degree brackets to mount the radio to the top inside of the CS enclosure. A couple of screws hold those brackets and the radio to the top of the enclosure. Put it far enough back in the enclosure so their is room to plug in a USB extension cable in the USB port located on the front of the radio. That way you can play MP3's on a USB stick while keeping a cover closed on the front of the enclosure so the radio is kept dry when it rains. You'll also want enough room to plug in an audio cable into the front of the radio as well. I made a clear Lexan cover for the open front of the enclosure with 1" aluminum angle iron glued to the top of the Lexan so as to rain proof the enclosure. It's held on the enclosure will small peaces of Velcro. My radio came with a remote so I never need to open that cover to operate the radio through the Lexan. I don't miss having a CD player in my modern 1/2 DIN radio. I use a Sirius XM Satellite radio plunged into the AUX port of the radio and if I want to play MP3"s I plug in a USB Stick in the end of the USB extension cable I keep in the left side pocket of the fairing where it stays dry even if it rains.
